Theatre Spira and Producentbyr\u00e5n are just back from the conference Performing The World<\/a> that took place in New York City October 10-12. The purpose of this trip was partly to get inspiration for future performances but also to share experiences from the EU project Caravan \u2013 Artists on the road. Theatre Spira also met up with actor and author Everett Quinton who shared advice on realistic cross gender casting in reference to Theatre Spira\u2019s upcoming performance 1988 coup d\u2019\u00e9tat Stockholm. The performance revolves around how Sweden implemented New Public Management and with that massive deregulations and privatization (think selling out the state owned railway system, health care and refugee housing). Everett Quinton was, along with Charles Ludlam<\/a>, part of the Ridiculous Company<\/a> in the 70\u2019s and the 80\u2019s and recently directed The Mystery of Irma Vep at The Lucille Lortel Theatre in New York. He has put up his own take on Charles Dickens\u2019 A Tale of Two Cities, which he\u2019s toured extensively throughout the years, and he has also done a very memorable part as the evil stepmother in the musical Cinderella. Recently he played in Shakespeare\u2019s Antony and Cleopatra at The McCarter Theater in Princeton and in July Everett got this stunning review in New York Times<\/a>: “Mr. Quinton is a genius. It is absolute rapture to see him in his element in \u201dDrop Dead Perfect<\/a>\u201d, a Peccadillo Theater Company production [in New York]”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
